WP-421
Polyethersulfone dispersion (often abbreviated as PES dispersion) is a specialized formulation in which fine particles of the high-performance engineering thermoplastic polyethersulfone (PES) are uniformly suspended in a liquid medium—typically water or a mixture of water and organic co-solvents—to create a stable, ready-to-use coating material.
PES are water-based, making them environmentally friendly and easier to handle compared to solvent-based systems.
Durle® WP-421 Polyethersulfone (PES) Dispersion is prepared from polyethersulfone material. Coatings made from this product exhibit excellent hardness, corrosion resistance, and film flexibility. It has wide applicability and demonstrates outstanding adhesion to various substrates.
Key features include:
1. Exceptional thermal stability and high-temperature anti-yellowing properties, making it widely suitable for various light-colored, high-temperature resistant coatings.
2. Outstanding flexibility and melt fluidity; it can be blended with PAI (Polyamide-imide) to formulate primer coats, enhancing the resistance to steam sterilization and boiling water of non-stick coatings.
3. Excellent chemical resistance. Coatings produced with this resin exhibit high resistance to saltwater, salt spray, acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.
4. Excellent compatibility and water dilutability. This resin is compatible with the vast majority of aqueous emulsions and resins and can be directly diluted with deionized water. It is suitable for direct use in formulating single-coat, water-based high-temperature coatings.
5. Complies with food safety and hygiene standards such as those of the U.S. FDA and Europe.
In summary, polyethersulfone dispersion is a waterborne coating material that leverages the superior properties of PES —making it a preferred choice for demanding applications in cookware, chemical processing, medical technology, and electronics.
PRODUCT BENEFITS
Lower VOC emissions
Safer handling and reduced flammability risk
Growing regulatory preference
APPLICATION
The primary application is as a coating resin. When applied to a surface and cured, it forms a continuous, protective film.
This PES dispersion is designed for formulating high-end, protective coatings where multiple demanding conditions coexist. Its ideal use cases include:
Non-stick Coatings for Professional Cookware & Appliances (requiring heat resistance, flexibility, and food safety).
Coatings for Medical & Laboratory Equipment (requiring steam sterilization, chemical resistance, and durability).
Industrial Coatings for Chemical, Automotive, and Aerospace Components (requiring heat and chemical resistance).
Wire Enamels and Electrical Insulation (benefiting from thermal stability and film properties).
